Tutor (HiWi) Position for the Operating Systems Course
Position: Tutor for the “Betriebssysteme und Systemsoftware” (BuS) Course
Working Hours: 12 hours per week
Duration: 4 months
Job Description
We are seeking motivated student assistants (HiWis) to support the “Betriebssysteme und Systemsoftware” (BuS) course in the upcoming semester. As a HiWi for the BuS course, you can choose between two distinct roles or combine them based on your interests and strengths:
- Tutor:
- Conduct two 1.5h tutorial sessions per week with groups of students, in English or German
- Explain course material, guide students through problem-solving, and answer questions
- Foster an engaging and supportive learning environment
- Exercise Preparation and Automated Grading Support:
- Develop and prepare exercises for integration into our automated grading infrastructure
- Write test cases and validation scripts to assess student submissions
- Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure exercises align with course objectives
Common Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly meetings to coordinate activities and discuss course progress
- Assist in the organisation, proctoring, and grading of exams
- Provide occasional support to students outside of tutorials via online forums or chat rooms
Requirements
- Understanding of operating systems and system programming concepts
- Proficiency in the C programming language (bash also appreciated)
- Proficiency in English
- Reliability and commitment to fulfilling responsibilities throughout the semester
- Prior experience in tutoring or teaching is a plus but not required
